This notice explains what information we collect when you contact Stay Dry, why we need it, and your rights.

Who we are
Stay Dry is run by Sean Howes, a damp surveying and damp proofing specialist based near Skipton. Sean Howes is responsible for how your information is used (the "data controller").

What information we collect
When you send an enquiry through our website, call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we may collect:
- your name, phone number and email address
- whether you're a landlord, housing association or homeowner
- the address of the property and details of the problem
- photos and messages you choose to send us
- access details, such as a tenant's name and phone number if you're a landlord
If you become a customer, we also keep survey reports, quotes, invoices and records of the work we carry out.
How we use it
- to reply to your enquiry and arrange a survey or visit
- to carry out surveys, write reports and give quotes
- to carry out and invoice any work you ask us to do
- to keep the business and tax records we're required to keep
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing.
Our legal reasons for using it
- Taking steps at your request before a contract, and carrying out a contract with you: replying to enquiries, surveys, quotes and work.
- Legitimate interests: running the business, keeping records and contacting tenants to arrange access when a landlord asks us to.
- Legal obligation: keeping accounts and tax records.
Tenants' details
If you're a landlord or letting agent and give us a tenant's details, please let your tenant know. We'll only use them to arrange access and carry out the survey or work.
Who we share it with
We only share information with services we use to run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Web3Forms: passes website enquiries to our email, and keeps a copy for up to 30 days.
- Google Workspace: our business email.
- WhatsApp (owned by Meta): if you choose to message us that way.
- GitHub Pages: hosts this website and may record technical information such as your IP address when you visit.
- Our accountant, and anyone we're legally required to share information with.
Some of these providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use approved safeguards to protect it. [TO CONFIRM: check each provider's terms]
How long we keep it

- stop or limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- send your information to you or another organisation in a common format
